New Orleans, LA (Hurricane Katrina)
In 2006 the S.T.A.R.R. team was requested by the Army Corps or Engineers and FEMA to assist with the human body recovery in the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans, Louisiana. We traveled to New Orleans nine months after the storm struck to attempt to give those families some closure and alleviate suffering, knowing that their family members were missing and feared dead. During our two week rotation in the Lower Ninth Ward, our team members and K-9's were credited in locating eight people in the devastated area.
